Week 1
by rchackman
I thought I would keep everybody updated on my training for Great Floridian. The race is an iron-distance triathlon in Clermont, Florida on Saturday, October 20th. I just finished my first week of training in a 24 week training plan. The plan calls for 10 workouts a week. 3 swims, 3 bikes, 3 runs, 1 brick. I will very likely be straying from the plan regularly but I like to have a structured training plan in place either way. I will be training 6 days a week and taking Monday off for most weeks.
Week 1
Mon PM – 40:00 Run
Tue AM – 1:00:00 Stationary Bike
Wed PM – 50:00 Run to Pool, 40:00 Swim (1550 yards), 20:00 Run home
Thu PM – 45:00 Stationary Bike, 15:00 Transition Run
Fri PM – 1:05:00 Run
Sat – ( AM) 2:15:00 Stationary Bike, (PM) 35:00 Swim (1500 yards)
Sun afternoon – 1:20:00 Run
Total: 8 workouts – – – 2 swims, 2 Bike, 3 Run, 1 Brick
Total Time – – – 9:45:00
Here is to week 2 and Ironman 70.3 Florida on Sunday!!
They just had a mothers day bike race, I think that is all it was, there this last weekend. The FiL lives in Clermont and they have quite an extensive bike path that extends if I remember correctly, past Orlando.
Have fun and good luck training!
Thanks ! I am sure I will need it. A little worried about the hills in Clermont as there are really no hills to train on in South Florida. I will look into the bike path and I might have to get up there and ride before the race. Thanks for the heads up!
You may want to do that as there are many..many hills..especially for us S Floridians!
Checked the map and it goes right by his house, Cherry Lake road area. They live in Palisades.
Great Start!!! This is just the beginning!
I’m racing Florida too–good luck and happy tapering! I’ll see you there!
Yes, good luck !!
That’s no joke for the first week. Good luck!
thank you ! the hard part is keeping that kind of focus for 24 weeks
Wow! With that kind of training in week 1 you’re going to smash the iron-distance tri 🙂
That is the plan! I want to put in the work so I have the opportunity to beat my last time.
Someday, Someday I WILL do an ironman! However, maybe I should start small with like a sprint-triathalon! That first week looks intense – good luck! Im sure you’ll do great!
