Living to train or training to Live. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Week 12

This week concludes the first half of my season. As I have mentioned before, I am on a  24 week training plan for Great Floridian in October.

Looking back on the first 12 weeks, I know I need to keep working hard. I will start to incorporate a little bit more of focused workouts. I have done a decent job of using different workouts (intervals, steady state, endurance, recovery) but I can do a lot better, especially with biking and running. I also need to find races that will fit my schedule in August and September.

The race on Sunday was tough but also invigorating. It served as a great reminder of why I compete in the first place, to challenge myself. Last week overall was fun and focused. I enjoyed my Run-Swim-Run session on Wednesday and kept the momentum going through the race. I have stoked the figurative fire for the second half of the season. Gotta keep moving forward.

Week 11

I would say this week was the first stumble of my season but I am seemingly well rested and plan on coming back strong for Week 12 and the second half of my 24 week training to Great Floridian in October.

Decided to make this week a recovery week since I traveled to a friend’s wedding in Chicago over the weekend. The wedding was a blast! However, thinking ahead I should have maximized last week’s training. Instead, and as I mentioned in the Week 10 post, I decided to enjoy that weekend. If I had looked one week ahead I should have known that I would not be able to find the time for a full training week and plan accordingly. Lesson learned.

It also served as a solid rest week. I was not initially planning on taking a recovery week but realized my life would be ten times easier if I took a realxed week here.

Week 10

The week was going well and then I decided to actually get social….In a rare move, I went out for a change on both friday and saturday. I paid for it on Sunday. Maybe some people can train a lot and go out but I find it hard to do both over the weekend. I would much prefer an early dinner with some friends as opposed to staying out late at the bar.
